Instructions:  Listen to the youtube video above and fill in the blanks in the transcript below (or write your answers on a piece of paper). Beginners can use the list of missing words and phrases, but if you're an advanced student, try to fill in the blanks just by listening to the video, without looking at the missing words and phrases.  The answers are given at the end of the transcript.

Main Features:  There are two main features in this video lesson.  1) The word "to" sounds like "ta" (4 times).  2) The phrase "going to" sounds like "gonna" (3 times).

Missing Words and Phrases (10):  going to [gonna] (3 times); her [er]; to [ta] (4 times); you're [yer] (2 times).

Well, this is a fun group.  Welcome to detention [1].

Spencer, Bethany, Fridge, Martha -- you're all here for a reason.

Hey, person walking!

You should be thinking about who you are and who you want _____ be.  You'll have plenty of time _____ figure that out while ______ cleaning out the basement.

Are you ________ help or are [2] you too pretty?

I'm too pretty.

Yo [3], what's this?

"A game for those who seek _____ find a way _____ leave their world behind.  Jumanji."  Pick a character and ______ that person in the game.

Which one do I pick?

I don’t think it matters that much.

{The names of the players are shown on the screen.}

"Moose Finbar".  That sounds like a badass [4].

I'll be the curvy genius [5].

"Doctor Smolder Bravestone".

I guess I'm "Ruby Roundhouse".

{The actors are pulled into the video game.}

{Drum beat.  Bird sounds.}

{Falling.}  Ahhhhhhhhh!

Oy vey [6].

Where's the rest of me? [7]

My god.  Fridge?

Yeah, I'm Fridge.  Who are you?

It's me, Spencer!

Who is she?

Why am I wearing half a shirt and short shorts in the jungle?

I think we got sucked into Jumanji and we've become the avatars we chose.

So that means…

Bethany!  Don't look at it!

No!!!  I'm an overweight, middle-aged man.

I don't have my Claritin [8] and all I see around here is pollen.

Well, I don’t have the top two feet of my body! [9]

Damn, that is a man right there!

Don't cry, don't cry.  Don't cry.  It's ________ be ok…

{Song:  "Welcome to the Jungle" by Guns N' Roses.}

This is a video game, which means we all have special skills!

Why am I running so slow?!

That was so intense.  I like can't even {win this place; unclear}.

Watch your step in here!

Maybe we're all in a coma.

That old game machine must have electrocuted all of us and now we're all… {Attacked by a rhino}.  Oh my god!!!!

You better get in there and save ___!

I'm not ________ get in there!  You get in there!

I've got a backpack on.  You don't get in water with a backpack.  Everybody knows that.

[1] Welcome to detention = Detention is a place where students go as a punishment for doing something bad, such as being late for class, chewing gum in class, etc. The person talking to them is the high school principal.
[2] Note that the phrase "or are" sounds like "are".  This is really fast speech.  If she were talking a little slower, the phrase "or are" might sound like "or er" or "er er", but here she combines both words into one.
[3] Yo = I'm not sure if he's saying "yo" or "y'all" (which is a contracted form of "you all".  In either case, he's trying to get everyone's attention.
[4] Badass = A person who's cool, confident, fearless, and tough; a person who will neither start a fight nor run away from one.
[5] "Curvy" = Overweight.
[6] Oy vey = A Yiddish phrase to express dismay or exasperation.
[7] Where's the rest of me?  = He used to be taller in high school.
[8] Claritin = A medicine taken to relieve a person's allergies; for example, some people are allergic to pollen.
[9] I don’t have the top two feet of my body! = He's says again that he was taller in high school.
