Notes:

[1] I get shotgun = the word "shotgun" refers to the right front seat of a car.  When we were kids walking to our dad's car to go somewhere, the first person who yelled "shotgun!" would get to sit up front instead of in the back of the car.  That's why he says "I get shotgun" = he's claiming the front passenger seat of the vehicle.  Originally the word "shotgun" was used in the days of cowboys and Indians to indicate a person who used his shotgun to protect a stagecoach from robbers or Indians.   This word was also used in video lesson #202, Marley & Me (How Marley Got His Name), when Owen Wilson says to the dog, "It's better if you ride shotgun".  Here's the link to the lesson:  https://englishbaby.com/blog/gohoos02/view_entry/96379 and the video:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2jgk4c5V3b4&t=38
