what's the meaning of "out-of-curriculum" ? Is this a commendatory word or a derogatory word ? Is it right to use like "out-of-curriculum fields", "out-of-curriculum courses"

Thanks! I think this means "not on the curriculum," or content that is outside the standard course material or learning program. This doesn't sound derogatory to me.
