When Chris Carrabba was 15 his Uncle Angelo bought him a guitar. Chris began teaching himself how to play, but he didn’t become serious about music until the very end of high school. He was too busy skateboarding. Right after high school, Chris recorded some songs and put them on a tape for his sister. He also gave the tape to a friend, and soon hundreds of people in his home state of Florida were in love with Chris’ music.
Chris chose the name Dashboard Confessional for his band, and soon recorded his first album. The name Dashboard Confessional comes from one of Chris’ songs, “The Sharp Hint of New Tears”. The line “On the way home, this car hears my confessions” made the phrase Dashboard Confessional pop into his head.

Dashboard Confessional’s newest is album is called A Mark, a Mission, a Brand, a Scar. It features 13 powerful and emotional songs, most of which are about the pain and suffering caused by bad relationships with women. Chris has experienced some difficult times and he uses music to express his feelings.
“Hands Down” is a perfect example of the fear Chris has when it comes to women. Check out some of the lyrics:
My hopes are so high[/def]
that your kiss might kill me.
So won’t you kill me, so I die happy.
My heart is yours
to fill or burst or break or bury or wear as jewelery,
which ever you prefer.

Discussion

I love all of Dashboard Confessional’s music. Chris is one of the most interesting performers in music. He’s really wonderful to see live in concert – especially because all of his fans are so fired up about his music. As Chris put it, “If you come to one of my shows, you’re kind of expected to sing along as loud as I do, and it’s just really like a team effort. The kids are involved. They are part of the band.”
