Marni: So, how was that Spoon show?
John: It was actually really cool. It was down at the Crystal Ballroom. Have you ever seen them live?
Marni: No, I had never seen them live. Have you?
John: No. That was the first time. I just heard a song of theirs on the radio about three weeks ago. It’s called Turn My Camera On or something like that.
Marni: Uh-huh.
John: Yeah. And it was really kind of catchy. So we went to the show. And it was awesome.
Marni: Cool. That’s kind of in the same vein as Shake it like a Polaroid Picture.
John: Yeah. Kinda like that, that song from Outkast.
Marni: Yeah.
John: Yeah. I think Spoon got really popular because they had a song on The O.C.[/def].
Marni: Oh, yeah, ya know The O.C. has really been helping a lot indie bands kind of make it big.
John: Yeah. Have you seen, have you listened to any of those mixes? The O.C. mixes? I think there are 4 of them now.
Marni: No. Are they selling comp CDs or something?
John: Yeah. Well they, I think they have 4 of them out there. And I think Spoon’s song is on the first one. It’s pretty good.
Marni: Good for them. That’s cool.
John: Yeah.

Discussion
The O.C. has seriously helped out a lot of bands by playing their songs on the show.
A band is really lucky to get chosen to be featured on the show because it helps them get exposure. They usually don’t get paid much directly, but the new fans they acquire bring in lots of money in the long run.
Are there any TV shows where you live that feature musicians? Have you ever seen The O.C.?
