John:   You ever been to a bachelor party?

Migs:   Yeah, I’ve been to one or two. What about you?

John:   I just went to my first one last weekend in Tahoe.

Migs:   Oh, how was it?

John:   Oh, it was a great time.

Migs:   Like, crazy, wild, gambling girls – all that kind of stuff?

John:   Yeah, you know, I mean, it’s the last party before he gets married and, um, we try to get him to do all those things he’s not going to be able to do once he’s hitched.

Migs:   So, were there a lot of girls involved or was it…

John:   Not with us. Actually we were kind of mellow that way but there were other girls there on bachelorette parties.

Migs:   Oh right! Those are so much fun!

John:   Yeah. I mean it was the first time I had seen those, too, and they kinda ran around doing a scavenger hunt like thing.

Migs:   So give me an example.

John:   Well, usually the girl will wear a veil like she’s getting married so everyone knows that it’s her, and they’ll have her asking… she’ll have to go and ask men different things and she’ll have to dance on the bar and things like that, so it’s basically just a chance for all her friends to, kind of, make her do crazy things.

Migs:   And, like, embarrass her.

John:   Exactly.

Migs:   So, who went to the bachelor party? Was it just, like, family and friends or what?

John:   Yeah, it’s usually the best friends of the people getting married so, and in this case it was the wedding party. You know, the people who are actually going to be in the ceremony.

Migs:   Oh. So there was just like five or six people?

John:   Yeah, because it was out of town, um, it’s, he didn’t want to have a huge party. It was just his best friends, so we had a great time.

Discussion

and bachelor parties are a blast for sure! You get all of your best friends together for one last celebration of being single.
Usually, the bride or groom doesn’t do any planning for these parties. They are planned by friends who try to do something that will embarrass the bride or groom.
Do you celebrate bachelorette and bachelor parties where you live? What kinds of things do you do?
