Do you ever want to do something that you know wouldn’t be good for you? These things are called “temptations.” An example is eating ice cream. You want to eat it, but you know you shouldn’t because it isn’t good for you.
In the following discussion, Tanis tells Nedra about one of her temptations: Shopping. Tanis knows that she shouldn’t be spending much money on clothes, but sometimes she gives in and does it anyway.
Follow along to see if you have ever felt the same way as Tanis did the other night.
Dialog

Tanis: Nedra, I have a confession to make.
Nedra: What’s that?
Tanis: Well, I went shopping last night and I’ve been trying not to go shopping but I just could not resist.
Nedra: It’s hard. I know.
Tanis: Have you been lately?
Nedra: Well, I’m thinking about it during lunch today.
Tanis: You should see all the great new clothes that are out. I, um, I ended up just getting a couple outfits and, um, I had so much fun!
Nedra: Well, did you get anything on sale?
Tanis: I was just feeling, like, ‘Oh, gosh. I should buy something that’s on sale.’ And so I bought this sweater without even trying it on and when I got home it had puffed sleeves and I was so upset! It is ugly and I hate it! So I have to return my one sale item, and I don’t know if they’ll take it back.
Nedra: Oh, is it a final sale?
Tanis: No I don’t think it’s a final sale. I think they’ll probably take it back but I don’t know. What are you going to be looking for?
Nedra: I need to find some knee-highs.

What do you think about Tanis’ temptation to shop? Can you understand her feelings? Fortunately, shopping isn’t too bad of a temptation, unless someone does it way too much.
Do you have any temptations like Tanis’? If so, please come share them with us at the Life Goes On message board. We’ll be waiting to hear from you!
