If you’re in a big city in the US, chances are there’s an amusement park close by. Most amusement parks feature roller coasters and other exciting rides, as well as concerts with famous artists, and other performances.

Check out this list of some of the best amusement parks in the country:

Disneyland – Anaheim, California (near Los Angeles)
Disneyland is home to Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck and the rest of the famous Disney characters. Almost every child in the U.S. grows up dreaming about going to Disneyland.

Disney World – Orlando, Florida
Walt Disney World is a huge resort, featuring everything from rides to science demonstrations to movie studios. It even features a huge zoo and a water park. If you only get the chance to go to one amusement park in your life, Disney World is the place to go.

Boardwalk in Atlantic City, New Jersey
The Boardwalk in Atlantic City is a fantasyland for adults and children. Right on the beach in New Jersey, the Boardwalk has rides, casinos, huge hotels, beach bars with live music and famous restaurants like the Hard Rock Cafe.

Boardwalk in Santa Cruz, California
California’s only seaside amusement park, featuring an old fashioned rickety wooden roller coaster, a beautiful beach and a huge video game arcade. One of the best things about the Boardwalk in Santa Cruz is watching the surfers on the nearby waves.

Six Flags www.sixflags.com
With over 30 parks in the U.S. and many in Europe, Six Flags is the biggest amusement park chain in the world. The cool thing about Six Flags is that every park is different, so you can visit many of them and get a totally unique experience each time.

Sea World – California, Florida, Texas
Sea World is a different kind of amusement park than most others. Although there are rides and performances, the biggest attraction at Sea World are the animals. Sea World is famous for its dolphin and orca whale shows – in which the talented animals perform amazing tricks.
