Salad bars provide lots of fresh fruits and vegetables for people to eat. Many restaurants have salad bars. You can make delicious salads from the vegetable options. Vegetables are very healthy and give you lots of nutrition. Vegetarians also need to be sure to eat lots of protein. There are many vegetables that have protein. Avocado, beans, and spinach all have protein.
Some salad bars are all-you-can-eat. This means you can eat all the salad under the sun. When you finish your first salad, you can go back to the salad bar for a second salad. Salad bars are set up on long tables. Some salad bars have a glass top to protect the food. These glass tops are called sneeze guards. Eating food that someone else has sneezed on would be gross. The sneeze guard will protect the salad bar from a bounty of germs.

Kelsey: Hey, Marni. I recently decided to start a vegetarian diet.
Marni: Oh, good for you.
Kelsey: Yeah. But I’m having some trouble. I’m a little nervous that there’s not going to be enough food options for me.
Marni: What are you talking about? There’s tons of food options if you’re a vegetarian. Plus, the greatest thing ever. Salad bars! It’s like an oasis of things you can eat.
Kelsey: OK. Yeah, but what about, like, are there protein options? Am I going to get enough nutrition out of these salad bars?
Marni: Well, yes. I mean, that’s the great thing about salad bars is it’s got, like, everything under the sun. There’s nuts. There’s legumes. I mean, those things have a lot of protein. It is just a bounty of everything. Like, anything you could ever want to try, you know, there it is for you. And you can just take a little bit. See if you like it, right?
Kelsey: Yeah, I guess that’s true. I feel a little bit better about it now. I’m excited to try some salad bars out and see if I can get a good diet out of this.
Marni: Yeah, I think you will. And I think that you’re going to enjoy it. And I think we’re going to have fun going salad bar hopping together.
Kelsey: OK. OK, I’m looking forward to it.
