Camping

In our modern society, most people have to go out of their way to be in nature. Camping can be a fun way to get back to basics, but it also requires a lot of equipment and isn’t all that comfortable.

Marni likes to find a nice camp site, set up a tent, and sleep in the the great outdoors. But Mason isn’t really into camping anymore. Listen to the two of them talk about it.

Remembering Paul Newman

Remembering Paul Newman

Death is, of course, hardest to deal with when it’s a surprise. Well-loved 83-year-old actor Paul Newman announced over a month ago that cancer would soon kill him, but the world grieved nonetheless when he died a little over a week ago.

Newman was famous not only for acting, but for his philanthropy. He donated a lot of money to charity through his life and left even more in his will. He was that rare combination of a famous person who is also a truly admirable human being.

Listen to Jason and Marni talk about the mix of emotions that Newman’s death made them feel.

Meeting in Vegas

Meeting in Vegas

After months of planning and flip flopping about whether she was going to go or not, the big moment is finally here. Manri and John are in Vegas. What do you mean you don’t believe us? We went to Turkey and China. You don’t think we can make it to Las Vegas, Nevada? Can’t you see that Vegas sign up there? Never mind the green shadow around John’s arm. That’s not from a green screen. That’s from the bright lights of Vegas!

Anyway, watch the video to see how Marni’s trip to meet her online boyfriend is going!

Monotonix

Monotonix

Rock ‘n’ roll in recent years has been relatively safe. Bands don’t really endanger the lives of their fans by lighting things on fire and smashing things like they used to (see: Iggy Pop or the MC5 for examples). And even if they do do those things, it usually seems rehearsed and predictable.

But a trio from Tel-Aviv, Israel, have set out to make rock music exciting and dangerous again. Monotonix played over 300 shows around the world last year, and though their audiences are small, word is traveling fast of their outrageous performances and loud, bluesy music. Even if the venue has a stage, Monotonix always sets up the equipment on the floor, and often ends up outside the venue.

Marni recently missed a Monotonix show and no one will let her forget it. Just after she tells Jason she’s tired of hearing about it, he tells her how great the show was.
