Today I 'm going to write about Nowruz in Iran.
The most important tradition that we have in a day of Nowruz is Haftsin( the seven "S"s) table.
we all sit around the table and wait for the start of new year.
This table includes seven items starting with "S" letter in farsi. The items symbolically correspond to seven elements of Life, namely Fire, Earth, Water, Air, Plants, Animals, and Human.
Let me name these "S"s:
1-Sabzeh - wheat, barley or lentil sprouts growing in a dish - symbolizing rebirth
2- Samanu - a sweet pudding made from wheat germ - symbolizing affluence
3- senjed - the dried fruit of the oleaster tree - symbolizing love
4- sir - garlic - symbolizing medicine
5- sib - apples - symbolizing beauty and health
6- somaq - sumac berries - symbolizing (the color of) sunrise
7- serkeh - vinegar - symbolizing age and patience.

and some other items can be added too such as:
- A holy book( Quran,Bible,Avesta,...)
-mirror- symbolizing cleanness and honesty
-lit candals- enlightnment and happiness
- sweets and nuts( for intertaining visitors)
-a bowl of water with goldfish in it
-decorated eggs-symbolizing fertality
-Coins-representative of wealth

You can see some of Haftsin table's on my profile.

If you come Iran in Nowruz I'm sure you'll enjoy a lot:)
