Less than half of the college gradutes in 2000 could find jobs in their specialities, compared with 80 percent ten years ago. Why do college graduates find it increasingly difficult to ge a rewarding job?

One reason perhaps is that many colleges and universities fail to adapt their course to constantly changing economic conditioons.Degree course offered in these institution of higher learning are so outdated, irrelevant and impractical that the students themselves find it hard to translate their academic knowlege into real job skills.Second, there is an oversupply of graduates in certain specialties, which is not being properly coped with consequently,so many of them cannot enter the professions they are trained for and have to talk alternative jobs that have nothing to do with their majors or do not require a college degree at all.

College graduates are valuable resources in our country. The roblems they encounter in finding suitable employment deserve more serious attention.College authorities should get out of their ivory towers and conduct detailed social investigatons so as to design coourses that  meet the needs of the ever-changing economic environment.
