Is there a more beautiful way to learn a language than by poetry?
The main reason to improve my English is my love for poetry, and the fact that it is far from easy to translate, and therefor understand it. Poems are often written in a form we don't use in a normal conversation or in writing a letter. Than there is the use of metaphors, not many poems can be taken literally. Sometimes I find it difficult to really comprehend the meaning, the things between the lines, the little subtleties that make or break a poem. I'm going to use this blog to post some English poems i grew fond of and discuss and/or try to discover, what lies beneath.
There is more to language than vocabulary and grammar, every language has sayings, expressions, things that can't possibly be translated by the book. Than there is humor, sarcasm, you can play with words, shuffle them around, change a letter or the placement in a sentence and get a joke or a different meaning, all of this and more is language, and poetry has it all.
