We need senses.Everyday,we see, hear, smell, taste, and touch,no doubt, those senses make our daily life become colourful---COLOURFUL,now we mention this, but did you ever think of this question---if we can SEE numbers---those numbers without colours---in colours and special shapes? It seems weird, isn't it?Well,I suppose,if someone suddenly says that he can do this naturally, you may think that he's telling a lie,but I must say it is TRUE.

There was a report published on Scientific American in 2006(a little bit of old...)about synaesthesia(also written as synesthesia),which means the phenomenon that one's two or more senses mix together.Hence,as a result, those people can 'hear colours, smell shapes'.If you still don't believe all these, well, you can go to read this book:Born On A Blue Day,which is written by Daniel Tammet. It is about himself, some kind of synaesthesia happens on him, making him being able to see those colorless numbers in colours and shapes, and this makes him be good at calculating---in his mind,he's calculating colours and shapes,in fact.

To tell the truth,I have synaesthesia myself. In my mind,1 is light yellow,2 is apple green,3 is azure,4 is yellow,5 is red,6 is blue(darker than the colour of 3),7 is pink,8 is the colour when you mix up black and violet,9 is brown, and 0 is white. If you ask me what may happen when I see a number which has two figures, well,I always see there colours separately(for example, the '1' in number 10 is yellow, and the '0' is white).

To see numbers in colour is really a wonderful thing. So,if you really hate numbers so much,or,just mathematics makes you feel dizzy,I think you can also try to imagine them in colour.Though you may not have synaesthesia, you can try to put those beautiful numbers in your memory,I think it'll be a beautiful thing, won't it?
