According to the Bible, God said to Moses, on whom be peace: I will raise up for them a prophet like you from among their brothers; I will put my words in his mouth, and he will tell them everything I command him. (The Holy Bible, New International Version, Deuteronomy chapter 18, verse 18). The prophet described in the above verse must have the following three characteristics: 1. He will be like Moses. 2. He will come from the brothers of the Israelites, i.e. the Ishmaelites. 3. God will put His words in the mouth of the prophet and he will declare what God commanded him. Let us see which prophet God was speaking of. 1. The prophet like Moses Some people feel that this prophecy refers to the prophet Jesus, on whom be peace. But, although Jesus (peace be upon him and all of God’s prophets and messengers) was truly a prophet of God, he is not the prophet spoken of here. He was born miraculously, and finally God raised him up miraculously. On the other hand, Muhammad is more like Moses; both were born in a natural way and both died natural deaths. 2. From among the Ishmaelites Abraham had two sons, Ishmael and Isaac (Genesis, chapter 21). Ishmael became the grandfather of the Arab nation. And Isaac became the grandfather of Jewish nation. The prophet spoken of was to come not from among the Jews themselves, but from among their brothers, the Ishmaelites. Muhammad a descendant of Ishmael, is indeed that prophet. 3. God will put his words in his mouth ‘Neither the content of the revelation, nor its form, were of Muhammad’s devising. Both were given by the angel, and Muhammad’s task was only to repeat what he heard.’ (Word Religions from Ancient history to the Present, by Geoffrey Parrinder, p. 472). God sent the angel Gabriel to teach Muhammad the exact words that he should repeat to the people. The words are therefore not his own; they did not come from his own thoughts, but were put into his mouth by the angel. These are written down in the Qur’an word for word, exactly as they came from God. Now that we know that prophet we must listen to him, for, according to the Bible, God says: ‘I will punish anyone who refuses to obey him’ (Good News Bible, Deut. 18:19). Jesus (on whom be peace) In the Glorious Qur'an The Qur’an tells us many wonderful things about Jesus. As a result, believers in the Qur’an love Jesus, honor him and believe in him. In fact, no Muslim can be a Muslim unless he or she believes in Jesus, on whom be peace. The Qur’an says that Jesus was born of a virgin, that he spoke while he was still only a baby, that he healed the blind and the leper by God's leave and that he raised the dead by God's leave. What then is the significance of these miracles? First, the virgin birth. God demonstrates His power to create in every way. God created everyone we know from a man and a woman. But how about Adam, on whom be peace? God created him from neither a man nor a woman. And Eve from only a man, without a woman. And finally, to complete the picture, God created Jesus from a woman, without a man. What about the other miracles? These were to show that Jesus was not acting on his own behalf, but that he was backed by God. The Qur’an specifies that these miracles were performed by God's leave. This may be compared to the Book of Acts in the Bible, chapter 2, verse 22, where it says that the miracles were done by God to show that he approved of Jesus. Also, note that Jesus himself is recorded in the Gospel of John to have said: ‘I can do nothing of my own authority' (5:30). The miracles, therefore, were done not by his own authority, but by God's authority. What did Jesus teach? The Qur'an tells us that Jesus came to teach the same basic message which was taught by previous prophets from God – that we must shun every false god and worship only the One True God. Jesus taught that he is the servant and messenger of the One True God, the God of Abraham. These Qur'anic teachings can be compared with the Bible (Mark 10:18; Matthew 26:39; John 14:28, 17:3, and 20:17) where Jesus teaches that the one he worshipped is the only true God. See also Matthew 12:18; Acts 3:13, and 4:27 where we find that his disciples knew him as ‘Servant of God’. The Qur’an tells us that some of the Israelites rejected Jesus, and conspired to kill him, but God rescued Jesus and raised him to Himself. God will cause Jesus to descend again, at which time Jesus will confirm his true teachings and everyone will believe in him as he is and as the Qur'an teaches about him. Jesus is the Messiah. He is a word from God, and a spirit from Him. He is honored in this world and in the hereafter, and he is one of those brought nearest to God. Jesus was a man who spoke the truth which he heard from God. This can be compared with the Gospel According John where Jesus says to the Israelites: ‘You are determined to kill me, a man who has told you the truth that I heard from God’ (John 8:40

I HAVE A COMMENT

God is too almighty and created the  world. But could god die?is it possible?if he dies this means he is like us mortal.a God is immortal because he creates life and death. So if Jessus died this means he is not God.

how can God let his slaves punish him like a criminal and crucify him?Is it possible the creature harms and humilates the creator?Impossible!

In your religion, the christ died to save christians. When he died who runned the world before he rised?

christians venerate the Cross because the Christ was crucifyed on it for a time.I read in a book that your god was buried in a whole for i do not know how many days before he rised. He spend more time in the whole than on the Cross,.So you should "logically" prostrate to every whole you find in your way because it should remember you of GOD.

a God whose sevents punish  humilate and  bury him is not GOD.

A God who  dies is not God

a god who  spent 9 months in a womb, the first thing he did when he was born is to scream from chest pain and then seek the his mothers breast because to stop his hunger is NOT GOD.

i do not want to be mean, you should reconsider what you believe in.

Read more about your religion.more about judaism and more about Islam. Then make up your mind

Good Luck

please give me PLAUSIBLE ARGUMENTS and i believe you.

Before declaring something as a general truth you should make a lot research and readings.

please read quran (you can find its translation in your mother language),talk to muslims and let them advise you some books about islam.

Do the same thing to dicover judaism.

Read more about your own religion.

Try to be as OBJECTIVE as possible in your research, eliminate all the prejudices and stereotyped ideas  you have in mind while leading it.

Then say your last judgement.

this sounds more logical than what you said in your comment.Doesn't it?

Good luck

I agree totally with JIANGLY. I WAS MUSLIM before (i am an arabic woman) and know i believe in Jesus Christ and I AM CHRISTIAN. I am very happy to believe in Jesus because Jesus has really changed my life. No one can change himself, but Jesus can . We are all sinners and no one can pay the price of his sins. But Jesus  compassionately  came and he payed this price. By him we have the forgiveness of ours sins and when we believe in Him, our lifes, our hearts change. Religion cannot change our Life nor Mohammed because he is died, but Jesus can do it. why ??? Because the fact is this, Number one : Jesus is God (As the bible said, God was in Jesus, reconciling the world with Him)  number 2 : after his dead, he resurrected and he triumphed of  death. I testify about this, Jesus is the Real God, He is powerful and merciful. His heart is full of love and forgiveness. May the Lord Jesus to bless and curing  this world. This world do not need religion. This world need to discover the wonderful love of Jesus. I Thank you Jesus my savior for the cross.

ok,my friend. It's good to see there are so many people here seeking truth, although there is still argument exist.

All u want to prove is Muhammad is a prophet, just like any other prophets.

OK,let's see it. U claim u believe in many prophets, such as Abraham,Moses, etc. But what i want know is what this prophet said in the Qur’an? Did the Qur’an recorded some words from Jesus?

I see that u always quote words from the Bible, but why do u just quote the words from Bible but don't believe it or just believe it partly?

Here is the point,Jesus,I know in Qur’an it is said that Jesus didn't die on the cross but someone else died for him. Well, here it is different from Bible totally,It must be one right and one wrong! There are many evidence recorded in the Four Gospel book and other places,I want to ask what's the evidence in Qur’an that support ur oppinion?

And another,in Gospel of John, chapter 8,verse 58,it is record: "Jesus said unto them, verily, verily,I say unto you,Before Abraham was,I am" If Jesus is just a man(usual or unusual),how did this explain?

And now the last! In Exodus chapter 6,verse 3 it is recorded:"And I appeared unto Abraham, unto Isaac, and unto Jacob,by the name of God Almighty, but by my name JEHOVAH was I not known to them." It is clear that the name of GOD is "JEHOVAH",So where did the name of "Allah" come from? Or to say,are we believing in the same God?

There is only one way to enter the kingdom of God: through Jesus,by believing in Him(died for all human beings and rise again from the dead) and FOLLOW HIM, What did Qur'an say about the way for a person to enter the Kingdom of God?

My friends,we are seeking truth here, but the truth is only one! May GOD lighten our eyes!

dear jiangly..

hmm..so now v hav another intrepretation..

whatever u wanna say..ur most welcum..but u gota prove ur point..somebody might say it was jOhn and somebody else might say Jesus..

so prove it with strong evidence!

i got enough strong evidences to prove that Muhammad is the prophet refered to in duet-18:18. All the Conditions of duet. indeed fulfill perfectly on Muhammad(pbuh).

secondly..about John-5:30..

Jesus could never could things by himself..we all agree..but only when GOD wished.

there are passages in the Bible where u will find that Jesus could not do any Mighty work when there was disbelief..[read Mark 6:56]

moreover all the miracles done by JESUS were also done by OTHER people..so that does not make Jesus 'God' or 'son of god' or 'one in trinity'

Jesus could cause a blind man to see again..even Elisha did that..[2-kings-6:17]

Jesus casted out devils..even his disciples did it..[Luke-11:19]

Jesus raised the dead..even Elisha and Elijah could do it.[1-kings-17:22]

U name it...U'll have it!

U also said the only way for us to enter the kingdom of God was through words of Jesus,SON OF GOD??

well here is what Jesus actually said:

"But in VAIN do they worship ME, teaching for the doctrines and commandments of men.."

Jesus was not the only one to be called as son of God..Adam is called son of God[Luke-3:38]..

David is called as the son of God

Jacob(Israel) is called son of God and the list goes on..

so what the deal with Jesus being the son of God..Jesus too was a Prophet just like any other prohet who came to convey the same Universal Message of ONE GOD as mentioned by the Bible as well.

"The Lord our God is ONE GOD.."[Mark-12:29]

 so no Trinity please!!Smile

Dear MAJID,I believe that in Deuteronomy chapter 18, verse 18,the mentioned prophet is Joshua(约书亚) indeed!

And in  Gospel of John chapter5 verse 30 Jesus have said:"‘I can do nothing of my own authority" I think that means Jesus will never do tings by His own will or authority, but through the authority of "The Father"

There is only way for human beings to enter the Kingdom of God, not through the words of any prophet but through Jesus, son of God.

Believing Him the status of son of God,and die on the cross for all human beings and rised from the tomb and appeared to many people for evidence.

From begining to the end there were no one who can overcome Death except Jesus, someone never died, they were just picked up directly by God, ONLY JESUS overcome death,so defeated Satan thoroughly!

heyy medjojo.. v dont make intrepetations from our imagination..its ur Bible that says so..y dont u just accept it? I DOnt agree with all that u said and i can also prove it to u.. point for point by Gods grace.. but for now lets just talk abour prophecies coz dats wat dis topic is about. u saying that there isnt gona be any prophet after Jesus and that all the Prophecies are fullfilled? maybe u dint read ur Bible.. read deutoronomy.18:15 The LORD your God will raise up for you a prophet like me from among your own brothers. You must listen to him. read John 1:21 They asked him, "Then who are you? Are you Elijah?" He said, "I am not." "Are you the Prophet?" He answered, "No." John 14:16 "And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you forever." john-15:26 "But when the Comforter is come, whom I will send unto you from the Father, even the Spirit of truth, which proceedeth from the Father, he shall testify of me." John-16:7 "Nevertheless I tell you the truth; it is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you". Some Christians say that the Comforter mentioned in these prophecies refers to the Holy Sprit. They fail to realise that the prophecy clearly says that only if Jesus (pbuh) departs will the Comforter come. The Bible states that the Holy Spirit was already present on earth before and during the time of Jesus (pbuh), in the womb of Elizabeth, and again when Jesus (pbuh) was being baptised, etc. Hence this prophecy refers to none other than Prophet Muhammad (pbuh). Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) is mentioned by name in the Song of Solomon chapter 5 verse 16:"Hikko Mamittakim we kullo Muhammadim Zehdoodeh wa Zehraee Bayna Jerusalem." "His mouth is most sweet: yea, he is altogether lovely. This is my beloved, and this is my friend, O daughters of Jerusalem." In the Hebrew language im is added for respect. Similarely im is added after the name of Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) to make it Muhammadim. In English translation they have even translated the name of Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) as "altogether lovely", but in the Old Testament in Hebrew, the name of Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) is yet present. It is mentioned in the book of Isaiah chapter 29 verse 12:"And the book is delivered to him that is not learned, saying, Read this, I pray thee: and he saith, I am not learned." When Archangel Gabrail commanded Muhammad (pbuh) by saying Iqra – "Read", he replied, "I am not learned". read John 16:12- "I have yet many things to say unto you, but ye cannot bear them now. Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth is come, he will guide you unto all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come. He shall glorify me". The Sprit of Truth, spoken about in this prophecy referes to none other than Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) And there are still more to go.. Hence you do find the Prophecies of Muhammad in BOTH the NEW and OLD testament. Moreover Christianity DOES NOT contradict all the beliefs of Islam. U will find out only if you be fair enough!!

there are no prophets after Jesus Christ. All prophets' main task was to predict the coming of Christ and to pave the way for his coming so Jesus said he is the first and the last the beginning and the end but many lying prophets will follow me. so don't make any interpretations, out of your own imagination and say the bible says so, it's not the bible but your imagination and lack of knowledge that projected this to you. the Christian philosophy totally contradicts all islam beliefs. you need more and more knowledge. Hope you can study the bible more properly

I respect the beliefs of Muslims, but in the Bible, the one being prophecied was really Jesus Christ. The book of Moses or Torah is not the whole bible. The book of Isiah, Psalms tell something about Jesus.
