song for the old guy

I sit on my back yard chair

watching around the up stair

a woman waves her hand to me

with her lips full of smile

the children play on the ground

they laugh and whistle at me 

with their foot still kicking the ball

a cup of hot black coffee still lay on the table

and the birds on the tree still singing their song

what wonderful afternoon
