Collect the English idioms is one of my ‘hobby’. I'd like to write down some idioms on different themes in my blog. I think it will be useful to those who learn English.
If you want to say ‘no’ to an invitation for now but keep the invitation open for another time you can say:
• Can I take a rain check?
If someone invites you to an event that is dependent on something else, such as good weather you can use next phrase:
• (Let’s keep our) Fingers crossed.
If someone offers to pay for drinks or meal, but you want to pay:
• This is on me.
