Poland

October 31, 2007

if you are wondering what am i doing at home today and why i'm not partying somewhere, the answer is very simple. WE DO NOT CELEBRATE HALLOWEEN IN POLAND! (well, apart from language schools and sometimes there are also organized small parties for children in kindergartens or primary schools)
we've got our own national (and religious too i guess) tradition since poland is a catholic country. instead of dressing up like ghosts, vampirs, bloody monsters and so forth, we simply go to the graveyards and a special mass is celebrated there. after that we leave some candles and flowers on the graves and that's all. as you can see - no fun at all.
i wish we also could celebrate halloween but i think poland is still too conservative country.
