Taiwan

August 24, 2009

The greehouse effect is getting harder and harder and weather is getting hotter and hotter..

Recently I am uncomfortable for the weather condition.
It's the highest temperature of Taiwan's in the recent years.

I don't turn on an air conditioner as possible as I can for the greenhouse effect.
I worry that using air conditioner may do on the damage.
If everybody using air conditioner, the temperature of the Earth will get higher adn higher..
But most of people don't think that over-using CE(consumer electronics) causes the global warmth.

I argued with my brother few days ago for the wheather using air conditioner..
Even if, I feel hot and uncomfortable..
Once I think of the greenhouse effect, I'll restrain my desire for turning the air conditioner..

But my brother doesn't think so~~
He said that"It doesn't work if there is only your effert, so let's enjoy the air conditioning..Let's celebrate with cool temperature in our house"..

I don't know how to say with my brother..
What could I do to get cool temperature and not to cause pollution??

Germany

Hi Reva,

my name is Oliver. I am located in Germany, Europe.

I think your brother is right, it doesn´t change the greenhouse effect if you leave the air conditioner off. But if everybody thinks this way, nothing will change. Here in my home country we do a lot for avoiding that effect. Cars emit less and less co2, people even pay more taxes for having "dirtier" cars and alternative fuel like natural gas is used more and more. And we use a lot of wind energy for producing electricity.

But this country is quite small on the globe.

I think that countries like the US should join in in avoiding air polution and stuff. Maybe the new Head of the State will work on that, his predecessor didn´t care.

Talking about air conditioners, we don´t have any, except in our cars. To cool down without it , I´d suggest jumping into some water like the sea or a lake or something. This does the job of cooling you down.
Or just wrap a wet towel around your head or your body.

And don´t move to fast for not sweating too much.

Greetings from Europe.
