Here is typical sahnghai alley/lane,we call” nòng tang”(it is unique in ShangHai as well as HuTongs /SiHeYuan in BeiJing), nòng tang is in great contrast with the tall buildings and busy streets in shanghai,people who live there  pay little attention to outside world, there are many lane in old shanghai,but developing economy,nòng tang are disappearing gradually.

Wow,look! what is it?i am so lucky to meet it today,it call “mǐ pào”in china.like popcorn we eat,but mǐpào is big different from popcorn. cook methed is very traditional,firstly i shall tell you why it call “mǐpào”(米炮)米rice,炮cannon，artillery piece,we know We will hear a great noise”bang,bang!” when cannon or artillery piece fire,so mǐpào cooking equipment will do it too,that is why we call it “mǐpào”
I remember when I was a little boy, every time I am waiting in long line for a bag of mǐpào,I will cover my ear before a bag of mǐpào cooked.”bang” is so loud!Can you find the cooking equipment in these picture.Yes,it has black body,you feel his look is strange,in fact I have same thought with you.taste of mǐpào is sweet and has good smell of rice.I like to mix it with milk,the perfect mix! of course you eat it as popcorn. I think a lot of people can find these good memory from their childhood.
But it is fun,as if they celebrate for itself changing from rice to mipao. Last time I eat is four years ago.
