1. In the film, Andrew, a famous Philadelphia lawyer, has affected AIDs, which get him fired. It’s an obvious discrimination against AIDs. It’s the same case with the employment discrimination against hepatitis B in China. For example, a lot of employers refuse hepatitis B virus carriers in GuangDong and other provinces since the implementation of Empoyment Promotion Law on 1st, Jan.2008. To be specific, 45.69% of hepatitis B virus carriers is still discriminated in the course of employment, which is shown in Chinese citizens’ healthy condition and employment right report. In my opinion, the government should pay more attention to this issue as the globe tries to enhance the understanding of AIDS.
2. There is another theme in this film----homosexuality. I am touching for Andrew’s family is indulgent to him. However, it is not easy for us to do so. In fact, there are about 500 million Chinese homoseuals and only 1% commit themselves. It is obvious that they suffer from great moral and ethical criticism. As a result, they reconcile to heterosexual marriage and the other part become a victom because homosexuals can’t fulfill their conjugal duties. In addition, the same-sex partnership is quite unstable under above social pressure that they change partner frequently. It increases the possibility to spread AIDS and other venereal diseases. Considering what mentioned above, Li Yinhe, as a CPPCCChinese People's Political Consultative Conference member, has submited homoerotic marriage proposal since 2003. Although the proposal has not passed yet, more and more people would like to support it. The trend prove that the increasing number of Chinese are eliminating the discrimination against homosexuals gradually.
