There are two academic calendars in Colombia. Calendar A is from February to November and calendar B is from July to April.

Colombia’s Childs begin to study at 2 years in the nursery, at 3 years is pre-kindergarten, at 4 years is kindergarten, the education between two and four years is not compulsory.Compulsory education begins at 5 years in transition.

Children have to start primary school at 6 years. They go to primary school for five years. The students go to the secondary school for six years. Some institutions prepare to the students in technical formation.

Students can go to college or university; there are many private universities and few publics. They have to pay fees for their education and courses usually take five years.

hey i didn't notice your message, i hardly check this. and also i get some nasty message but well i must say only few... this site is really cool and help me get some ideas as i teach esl...

i hope this can still help you with your search and interests to study other culture..

about the education system here...

we have, yeah, pre school, kindergarten, nursery and all those stuff around age 3-6.

compulsory  education starts at age 7-12 for elementary/gradeschool.. we have high school 13-16.. some parents send their children to private schools but most of them send the kids to public school both elementary and high school.

The Philippine educational system itself is similar to the American school system, but unlike America which starts school in August or September and goes through May or June, the Philippines starts school in June and ends in March.  The universities follow the June ~ March school year as well, except they follow the system of using semesters (June-October, November-March).

In the schools, English is the main language of instruction, although Filipino and local dialects are sometimes used - particularly in the lower grades

there you go..
