‘Tagesschau’ says that Covid 19 also affects the already terrible situation in Afghanistan, making things even worse for the Afghans:
>Schools and kindergardens are closed.
>Day laborers can’t get a job anymore and thus would starve without support. Some even have become homeless as at the same time landlords still legally expect them to pay their rent.
>70 people already died as a direct result of the virus. Numbers may increase seeing how many Afghans don’t have access to disinfectants, soaps or face masks.
>Supply chains break down as a direct result of increased prices and longterm curfewa. And these were already bad before seeing how many parts of Afghanistan don’t have access to electricity and thus need to communicate without computers or phones.

The following I got mostly from ‘Marktcheck’: Due to Corona many occasions where you usually give away flowers have been cancelled and many florists had to close. As a result tons of flowers produced by child labor in Ecuador, Afghanistan, Mexico, but also flowers produced under more acceptable circumstances had to be dumped. Also late spring and early summer clothes produced by children in India and Bangladesh were dumped by the shops where they arrived. After all the owners of these shops saw no use in them anymore as their shops had closed and they felt they couldn’t just store these clothes until next year.

>‘Suedwestpresse’ says that this week in Khabul a member of IS attacked a Sikh-temple and murdered 25 members of this religion. He wounded at least eight people heavily and then took some more hostage. In the end the police shot him dead.
>Also ‘Suedwestpresse’ says that due to Corona the USA reduced their financial support for Afghanistan by 9 billion dollars.

‘Suedwestpresse’ says that Abdullah and even some politicians with high ranking governmental positions who are on his side accuse the result of the elections of being fake. They don’t consider Ghani as the rightful new president. At about the same time the USA and the Afghan both signed a peace-treaty that guarantees benefits on both sides.

‘Tagesschau’ says that now there is some kind of deal between Taliban and the Red Cross guaranteeing that as off now no Taliban-fighter will attack people working for the Red Cross in Afghanistan. Yes, it’s kinda odd that at first Taliban killed 10 members of the Red Cross and Doctors Without Borders and destroyed three hospitals just this year, but I’m just repeating what I heard without giving any personal opinion.
