‘Reutlinger Nachrichten’ says that the ‘Ferry Porsche Foundation’ (named after the inventor of the Porsche-car) searches for enterprises, institutions and clubs that do something for the inclusion of people who have a disability – for example by hiring more people with a disability than required by German law. In summer there is going to be a public awards ceremony where 17 participants of this challenge are chosen. These 17 enterprises are going to receive rewards ranging from 25.000 € to 75.000 €.

Although the Employment Agency supports companies in implementing inclusion measures, some employers are still reluctant to hire people with disabilities. The hoodie manufacturer ‘Wasni’ in Esslingen however is an example of successful inclusion on the primary job market. People with and without disabilities work together there. Daniel Kowalewski, founder of Wasni believes that anyone could make it possible to integrate a person with a disability into his enterprise. ‘Wasni’ actually is an acronyme ‘Wo anders sein normal ist’ (Where it’s normal to be unique). Their tolerant policy and the fact that they only use fair trade cotton for their hoodies now earned them a honorable article in the newspaper ‘Reutlinger Nachrichten’.

The German Roman-Catholic newspaper ‘Adveniat’ says that in Brazil hundreds of indigenous people are forced to leave their indigenous villages – some because of medical conditions that require long-term medical treatment, others because their village faces a crisis like bad harvest due to climate change – and go to the bigger cities like Manaus. There however they often face racial prejudice – in their private life as well as when trying to find a job. Many consider these aboriginals lazy and stupid. As a result they often get low-paid jobs or no jobs at all and as a result often lack the most basic stuff like medicine or a healthy diet.

The German Jewish newspaper ‘Jüdische Allgemeine’ says that this week on January 28th Jews celebrated their ‘Holiday of Trees’. The article didn’t make it clear whether these traditions concern Jews all around the world or just Jews in Germany – it sounded like the first one though. But the article says that on this holiday you usually eat at least 15 types of tree fruits (including nuts) of which as many as possible also grow in Israel and one of which you haven’t eaten this year yet. Also if the climate of your region allows it you should also plant tree seeds or a very young tree.

‘Domradio’ says that while in Germany most people think low of people who work as cleaning ladies and until recently even thought low of nurses, this Sunday the Pope said in a preach that these people do an amazing job every day by saving us from Corona – cleaning ladies by sanitizing and nurses by working very hard to take care of all these Corona-patients and others.
