“Deutsches Aerzteblatt” says that according to some experiments and observations made in China unborn people who develop in an environment with high air-pollution are at greater risk of being born underweight than those who develop in an area with rather clean air.
This pollution at least could be reduced if there was enough rainforest with trees that could absorb this carbon dioxide.

Firstly I know that the Amazonas isn’t located to Asia, but I just want to put the following information in here, because it’s a rainforest nevertheless.
Secondly I couldn’t believe it either when I heard about it, but: According to a German newspaper more than half of the Amazonas-rainforest got threatened by a horrible drought in the year 2010.

Already two new pieces of information:
>Tropical rainforests in east Asia are coming under increasing pressure from population growth, an ecologist has warned.
(news I read on “http://www.coolearth.org/306/news-32/rainforest-news-155/asian-rainforests-under-threat-from-population-growth-730.html”)
>In some countries there women aren’t “as important” as men. Today I heard that since more and more enterprises produce their things in sweatshops over there even women get work-although it sure is low-paid. This circumstance could lead to women becoming more and more important-especially since there meanwhile are families in which men are unemployed while women at least found work there.
What this has to do with the rainforests there? If women become more and more important this is a step into advance. If advances like this one increase this means that wealth increases aswell, meaning that one day it may not be that necessary anymore to gain one’s money by cutting the woods of these precious forests.

As a former teacher of mine once said, you should try to accomplish your political aims by becoming politically active, but if you’ve tried without success you still have enough time to mourn later.

I doubt we’ll be able to save all of these rainforests, but that doesn’t mean we shouldn’t even try.
Even if we can save only a part of them, it would be at least better than nothing.
On the other hand so many unexplainable and wonderful things already have happened that you can’t really say what’s possible and what’s not.
