Very interesting.
Also kind of ironic, considering how China got it’s manufacturing capabilities from the USA in the same way.
I’m glad the US isn’t involved in this. I wonder if, because if the history of European “colonization” and abuses, if China isn’t better suited to help African nations modernize.
Every nation that can will take advantage of Africa in the guise of “helping” them, I don’t think it matters who does it. Hopefully the end result will be as it was in China, one more modern nation with one less population of which to take advantage as slave wage labor. Eventually, greedy owners will run out of third world nations to abuse for cheap labor.
I’m just glad it’s not us this time.

“Wie einflussreich ist China in Afrika?” (How Influencial is China in Africa) was the title of a documentary movie that aired this week on ‘Arte’:
‘Petrol For Credits’ is the name of a deal (still in force) between Angola and China. It says that China will supply Angola with loans and in exchange Angola will supply China with petrol. As the price of petrol decreases however and Angola doesn’t have a bottomless supply of petrol even today this already leads to Angola owing 1/3 of its sovereign debts to China. At the same time Angola’s own production gets weakened by China as Chinese producers just offer the cheaper clothes, electric devices, toys etc. and Angolan citizens would rather buy these than things from Angolan producers.
Even when Angola or any other African country may profit from China, this always seems to come with a bitter side-effect. For example Chinese enterprises realized that hiring workers in Africa is anything but an expensive matter. Thus they moved their production to African countries and hired African workers which in turn made the economy of the African country in question increase. However the workers hired by these Chinese enterprises often barely have enough money to feed themselves and their families, have to work almost non-stop and often don’t even wear protective clothing. What’s worse is that some enterprises may even get away with hiring underage workers.
Still they say that the EU has even more economical influence than China in these countries. About 36% of the foreign trade done by African nations goes on between said nation and the EU – mostly Germany and France.

‘Sonnenseite’ says that each year tons of make-up or cosmetic articles get thrown away, because the customer wasn’t familiar with the product and didn’t realize until it was too late that his – or more often ‘her’ – skin reacted allergic to the product or that it just wasn’t the right thing for his type of skin or hair. Thus ‘Sonnenseite’ now brought up some new ideas to avoid having to throw these products away:
>Face lotions can be used just as well to clean furniture or even electric devices like computers. Face lotions even can be used to kill off bacteria on the human body.
>Cosmetics oil is just the thing to clean stainless steel.
>Transparent nail polish can be used to hide scratches on furniture or electric devices…or rust. On threads nail polish can be used to make it easier to get a thread through the eye of a needle.
>Powder can also be used on body parts other than the face to avoid sweating. Powder will even keep your hair from getting greasy.
>Mixed with face cream it can also be used to treat your facial skin.
>Transparent make-up remover can be used to remove stickers, to replace regulat cleaning agents or even to wash your clothes.
>Nail polish remover can be used as a cleaning agent, to rub super glue, ink or color off your skin or even off your clothes. Plus it can be used to polish porcelain or leather.
>Beauty cream can be used to make leather look softer and younger. If a ring is stuck on your finger, remove it by putting some beauty cream onto your finger.
>Shampoo can be used to treat sensitive cloth or (tooth) brushes. Rub it onto the mirror in your bath before taking a shower and it won’t get fogged.
>Lip salve can be used to replace shampoo or lubricant.
>When put onto a piece of cloth hair spray can be used to remove hair from carpets or other pieces of cloth. Also hair spray can be used on balloons to make them last longer and to avoid them applying dust.
>Body scrubs and body peeling can be used to clean dirty feet or hands.
>If you bought too many of certain foods however, these can be added to support the cosmetics and hygienic articles above. For example if you bought some coconut-oil, olive oil, tea tree oil, vinegar, lemon juice or baking powder and realize it will reach its best-before-date before you can use it all, you may use this oil to rid your hair off dandruff. You may also squeeze some old and mushy olives or citrus fruits over your head and rub the juice/ oil into your hair and it will have about the same effect.

The German monthly newspaper “GEO” now made a report about what appears to be a rather young enterprise named “Ananas Anam”. They use a special technique to turn hard pineapple-leaves – and Angola just is one of the biggest sources of pineapples in the world – into some sort of fibre they use to produce clothing – especially shoes. This is more environmentally friendly than leather and definitely more social than cotton or leather.

The German informative TV-show “TopWelt” now declared Southern-African whonga and lesomorphin the two most dangerous drugs.
Southern-African whonga – produced in Angola, Mozambique, Lesotho, Malawi, Zambia, Zimbabwe snd others – because in these areas whonga is often “streched” by adding rat poison and cleaning agents and lesomorphin, because due to being comparably cheap it is especially consumed by poor people in Russia. This drug makes your skin turn green, your flesh rot, your brain lose more cells than can be reproduced and eventually kills you.
