This month’s sample of the German newspaper “DeinSpiegel” says that in Thailand where some Asian fighting sports are quite popular it has become rather common for poor families to send their sons as young as 10 years into ferocious public fights. Often these children hurt themselves there, but their families need the money. I heard there are people who’d care more about animals than about human beings. They too should be upset about these fights. There it is thought to bring luck if you throw a coin into a pond where a turtle is housing. Alas these turtles mistake coins for food and suffocate after swallowing them – which most people in Thailand of course don’t know.

Re-upload: “http://www.thaichildrenstrust.org.uk/donate” and ””http://www.practicalaction.org.uk/?id=children_biolatrines” are websites that educate the children of this still developing country. You know this theory of mine: If they receive better education, they’ll be able to treat nature better. Someone who is poor, because he didn’t receive the necessary education, may not be allowed to choose a job other than deforestation or illegal trade with this forest’s plants and animals. Other than that I can only recommend you the organisation “Rainforest Conservation Fund”. Please feel free to read about them on “http://www.rainforestconservation.org/rainforest-primer/4-case-studies-in-tropical-deforestation/c-south-and-southeast-asia/2-thailand”.
