The Americans and the British format business letters slightly differently, such as in the salutation (Dear Sir,/Dear Sir:) and in the sign-off greeting (Yours sincerely/Sincerely yours).

Informal letter: 1.plan what do u want to say and organize your ideas into paragraphs 2.ask yoursel "will this be interesting to read?" 3. use and informal and friendly style of language eg use constractions, short, everyday words, phrasal verbs and idioms 4. write short, simple sentences 5. adress the reader directly using "you" 6. open and close the letter appropriately
