In a heartbeat

Hi,

I would like to know what “in a heartbeat” means. I have seen phrases like “I’d do that in a heartbeat”. So I guess it must means “very happy to do something”. But how happy is it, or how willing is it? Thanks.

Joeyshin,

How are you?

“In a heartbeat” means “do something very quickly” or “without hesitation.” For example, if someone asks you if you would like to be a professional athlete, you could say, “in a heartbeat!” This would show that you would love to be an athlete.

Hope this helps!

John
