Quote

1. Quote - Listen to the quote and guess what the slang means.

“I love Thelma Houston’s ‘Don’t Leave Me This Way’ plus everything by KC and the Sunshine Band, sue me.”

- Author Stephen King on his incredibly un-cool tastes in music. (Entertainment Weekly)

Definition

1. Definition - Study the definition.

I know it’s wrong but I don’t care; I stand by this opinion or action that you think is ridiculous

2. Use - Learn how the slang is used.

To sue someone means to take him or her to court to settle a dispute. When you end a statement in sue me, you’re jokingly asking whomever you’re talking to take you to court if they disagree with what you’re saying. Someone who says sue me knows his or her opinion is unpopular or offensive but doesn’t care. It’s a lot like saying get over it after saying something shocking.

Though he’s most famous for horror stories, Stephen King recently listed what he considered to be the top 24 songs in rock history in his Entertainment Weekly column. In addition to the fact that none of his selections came out in the last 20 years, most of them are very un-cool. But, with the confidence available only to a rich and famous 59-year-old, King stands by his selections and, in saying “sue me” challenges you to disagree.

Examples

1. Examples - Hear some example sentences.

“You know, I just still don’t believe in global warming. So sue me.”

“So I’m in love with your sister, sue me.”

in the context used here "sue me" means that you did or are doing something that you are not concerned about others opinions of your choice(s)when they express them to you, so you dismiss them in a humerous way.

It is a very categorical expression, but I like it. I like to read Stephen Kings novels as well, and I hope to be able to read them in origin someday.
