Hi all..

You should Know what is "Islam ' word before u add ur comment .. "Islam" mean ..

The word "Islam" itself means "Submission to Allah." The religion of Islam is not named after a person as in the case of "Christianity" which was named after Jesus Christ, "Buddhism" after Gutama Buddha<!-Buddha-> , "Marxism" after Karl Marx, and "Confucianism" after Confucius.

Similarly, Islam is not named after a tribe like "Judaism" after the tribe of Judah and "Hinduism" after the Hindus. The Arabic word "Islam" means the submission or surrender of one's will to the will of the only true god worthy of worship, "Allah" (known as God "the Father" in Christianity).

Anyone who does indeed submit to the will of Allah as required by Islam is termed a "Muslim," which means one who has submitted to the will of Allah. Many people in the West have developed the sad misinformed trend of calling Islam "Muhammadenism" and it's followers "Muhammadins." This is a totally foreign word to Muslims and unrecognized by them. No Muslim has ever called his religion "Muhammadenism" or called himself a "Muhammadin."

Do you know what word "Islam" mean now..??

Christianity is actually derived from the title of Christ, meaning annointed one, rather than the name Jesus.  Similarly, Buddhism is named after the title of Buddha, meaning "Awakened or Enlightened" one, rather than Siddhartha Gautama, the actual name. Just thought I'd point that out.

But what does it matter?  Even if it isn't named after Muhammad, the religion still requires an excessive degree of Muhammad-reverence.  Also, no one refers to Mohammedans in the west anymore, except for people like me who like being deliberately archaic. Wink

That's not so clear to over 4 billion people, makifakat ;)

monatta, it's good information for people who do not know the meaning of the word Islam. Other religions require that their followers submit to the will of their god, but at least Islam is upfront about it.

Not that it makes it any more appealing to me.

Angel, what is preventing people from seeing the truth of Islam?

Angel, in choosing Islam, you are really judging it to be better for you than other religions or no religion at all. Do you have deep knowledge of Christianity, of Buddhism, of the tenet of Mormonism, Scientology, or even of atheism?

Can you really judge them without deep knowledge of each of them?

yeah that.

ps: Islam IS a good religion BUT some fundamentalist and radicals give Islam a bad name. Moderat muslims (means those with high tolerance and not only talk the talk but walk the walk) should try hard to show up the world the true Islam.

well Angel, knowing about other religions and respecting them doesn't sound like deep knowledge of them, which, according to you, you need to have about something before you can judge it.

Certainly you can say you are content in your belief. I hope you are. But you are still judging other beliefs to be wrong. According to you own standard, you should not do that.

hana, you make an interesting analogy. However, how do you know that the water you are drinking is pure? What if you don't know anything else? Perhaps another drink could quench your thirst better.  Maybe Zoroastroism was the Gatorade of the soul, and we never knew it.  ;)
