are you proud of your history, the ottoman empire, or will you deny it as you denied your alphabets with attaturk and other issues too..

What Ataturk's government did was to replace the Arabic alphabet with Roman letters for the writing of the Turkish language.

Actually I couldn't understand clearly what you try to explain here about this situation?

If these are questions for Turkish people, I can answer to you. First of all, Ofcourse we proud of our history for middle of Asia ( We have so old story, maybe one of the first nations of the world). Turks firstly lived in the middle of Asia, then some of them migrated to different directions. Some of them came to Anatolia and began to live this land, later they had many huge states:.... Selcuk and Ottaman. But always they spoke Turkish. Just there is different thing during Ottoman Empire. That time, offical language (just writting) was Ottoman language(It wasn't arabic language). Actually it was not a language, because it didn't has spoken language (People used to speak Turkish and they didn't know Ottoman language.They had to write their problem when they go to court or any state offices) . When Tukish Republic was established by Atatürk, He knew this situation and He told Writting has a different language and speaking different, it must be changed. Than He changed our Alphabet with Latin Letters. Now we speak, write in the same language.

%98 Turkish Popilation are Muslim. Turkey's offical relegion is Islam. We are Laic Democratic Republic, and we feel close to EU. Yes to understand is a bit hard for you? Don't ask these kind of odd questions without to search. Firstly You should search and get info. These days, There are many info on Net. If you don't understand then ask? OK!

first, thakns for your answer. i feel like you didn't understand me. i didn't want to hurt you, turkish people are great especially, for me, because they lived in Algeria for a long period and the most famous islamic monument here( in Algeria) were left by the OTTOMANS.

second we have always learned ottoman empire at school but this was just history, we almost know nothing about what remains from this empire (ie.turkish people), this is why i wanted to get an answer about the turkish people themselves, not from others to avoid prejudices..

anyway, i rehiterate my apology for you and for all turkish Ebabians who may understood me the wrong way.( may be this is due to my weak english, i have difficulties to express myself as i want..
