How are i use them? I sometimes confuse between many and “a lot of”.
For Example:
many people
a lot of people

How can I use them and correctly?

Thank You

Hi! “Many” can only be used with count nouns. For instance, you can say, “I have many friends.” You can’t say “I have many friendship,” because “friendship” is not something that can be counted.

“Much” is used with noncount nouns, as in, “I didn’t bring much luggage,” or, “How much coffee would you like?”

Finally, a lot of can be used with either count nouns or noncount nouns. You can say, “I have a lot of friends,” or “I don’t want a lot of coffee.”

Thank You.

Someone told me “many/much” more formal than “a lot of” .  What do you think?

Hi! “Much/many” may be slightly more formal, but not much.
