Phrase meaning

Let’s see. My mom is three years older than my dad, and they are like night and day. My mom is 5 foot 4, on a good day, 5 foot 2, I think in real life, and she is very sweet and very nice, and very caring, and very cute, everybody tells her how young she looks, and how she resembles my sister, perhaps.

Could you please tell me the meaning of the text highlighted in bold?

Best regards,

Abhishek

“5 foot 4” means that she is 5 feet and 4 inches tall. “On a good day,” I think, means that on some days when things are going well, it appears as if she is standing taller. But in reality, she is only 5 feet and 2 inches tall.

Thank you ma’am. By the way, is it proper to say 5foot/feet and 4 inches?

You mean could you say, “She is 5 feet and 4 inches tall?” That’s correct, but you would probably omit the “and.”

So we don’t use 5 foot and 4 inches, right?

No-it’s confusing, you’re right. You might say someone was 5 foot 4, but you’d say 5 feet and 4 inches.

Is it because feet is the plural of foot?
