Migs:  Nedra, what did you do this weekend?

Nedra:  Uh, I went to a concert on Saturday night.

Migs:  Who’d you see?

Nedra:  I saw Craving Theo and Wurkt.

Migs:  So, why did you see those bands?

Nedra:  Okay, well Wurkt is, um, my boyfriend knows the guys in Wurkt. They went to school with some of them, and, um, Craving Theo, they’re a local band.

Migs:  I see. So, was it a good time or what?

Nedra:  Yeah, actually, um, my boyfriend Rick actually made it on stage. They saw he was wearing one of their old T-shirts and they grabbed him up and gave him a hug and he rocked out with them.

Migs:  So, he was like dancing on stage and everything?

Nedra:  Yeah, I was screaming at him. It was really fun. They offered him a backstage pass and so, right after they got off stage we went downstairs and hung out with them.

Migs:  What was that like?

Nedra:  It was weird, um, the backstage room was kind of dirty and smelly and people were, um, kind of sick and throwing up because they drank too much. So, it was an interesting time. Um, it was really fun hanging out with some of the people though.

Discussion

It sounds like Nedra enjoyed herself. She and her boyfriend had a lot of fun partying with the band.
However, Nedra didn’t say anything about the music she heard. Sometimes the music at a live concert is less important than the people playing it. If the performers put on a great show, the concert will be memorable even if the music’s not great.
Do you like to go to live concerts? How often do you get a chance to see bands perform live? Talking about music is a great way to practice your English. Do it with your friends today!
Rock on,
Migs
