Dirty Vegas is Paul Harris, Steve Smith and Ben Harris, three guys from the London suburbs who created one of the catchiest songs of the year. “Days Go By” first appeared on the UK music charts in May of 2001. Then Mitsubishi Cars used it for one of their television advertisements in the US. Suddenly the song was being played on every TV channel and hundreds of radio stations across America.
The Dirty Vegas story is a fairytale. One song has made them famous. Every band dreams about creating one song that becomes popular the world over.

When the guys from Dirty Vegas created “Days Go By” they weren’t actually a band. They were just three guys who decided to make some music. They didn’t become Dirty Vegas until the song became popular.
When they realized they were on to something, they decided to create a whole album. After much arguing and fighting, they started making good music. The result is a collection of songs about love and loss.
“Everything there is something that happened to one of us or to someone near and dear to us,” says Steve Smith. “It’s about us, our emotions. All of our personalities have come out within the sound of the album.”
Check out some of the lyrics to “Days Go By:”
You are still a whisper on my lips
A feeling at my fingertips
That’s pulling at my skin
You leave me when I’m at my worst
Feeling as if I’ve been cursed
Bitter cold within
Days go by and still I think of you
Days when I couldn’t live my life without you

Discussion
I really like “Days Go By.” It’s a great song. I think people will be listening to it for years to come. However, the rest of the Dirty Vegas album isn’t great. Many of the songs sound the same and I got bored after listening to it for about a half an hour. However, if you really like electronic music, you should check it out.
Have you heard “Days Go By?” Do you like it? What about the rest of the Dirty Vegas album? Come to the Music Mix message board and let us know!
Rock on!
