This year’s Lollapalooza line-up looked just as good as ever with older acts such as Morrissey and Sonic Youth and new-comers such as Le Tigre and The Polyphonic Spree. Everything was set in motion with tour dates announced at venues across the country.
Then came the hammer. Perry Farrel announced that the entire tour would be cancelled for financial reasons. The turnout has fallen lately and the tour just wasn’t making enough money to cover expenses.
Farrel said that he would re-vamp the festival and try to get it back on its feet again in the coming years.
Let’s hope he can make it happen!

Discussion
Because I came of age during the 90s, Lollapalooza was pretty influential for me. I went to some of the very first tours and was exposed to new music I probably wouldn’t have listened to.
When I first read about the cancellation, I was shocked and a little disappointed. After giving it some thought however, I have decided that it’s for the better. Sometimes old traditions need to be updated to keep up with the times, ya know? I look forward to seeing what comes out of the new Lollapalooza.
Rock on,
Migs
