When I was 18, I was pretty bored. So bored, in fact, that I made it a hobby to try to get to know rock stars, or at least spend time in the same room as them. Check out a conversation I had with John last week about the fun adventures.

Steph: So, I don’t think that you would want to have known me when I was 18‚ ‘cause I spent a good majority of my time going to concerts and trying to get on people’s tour busses.
John: Really? Like that was the goal, is to get on the bus?
Steph: Totally! At all concerts. First, there was the getting backstage shtick. And that lasted, ya know, about six months, where me and my friends would try and to get backstage.
John: So how do you do that? You go to the concert, and you get up in the front row, and you wink at the, at the band members.
Steph: Actually, um, sometimes. It depended, ya know. If we were with two girls, then that worked. But, a guy and a girl, we would have to wait until the security turned around and then we would just kind of sneak in past them.
John: Oh, wow. So then how’d you get on the bus?
Steph: Well, that’s where…after you get backstage, then you get to know the band a little bit. And eventually, they offer you, ya know, something to drink. And then, ya know, you’re on their bus. That usually only happened when there were two girls, too.
John: So, what’s the most popular band you made the tour bus?
Steph: I stepped foot on the Metallica bus.
John: No way!
Steph: Seriously!
John: That’s awesome!
Steph: They played in Portland! Yeah. And I stepped foot on it. But then, got kicked off.

Discussion
I think we have all done things in life that we are a little bit embarrassed about. For me, this is one of those things. I thought that spending time with cool people would make me cooler. In the end, it just made me a groupie. Now I like to spend my time doing things that are fun, like playing music and talking about the silly things I used to do. What do you do to have fun?
