Ice Age 2: The Meltdown follows our furry, prehistoric friends as they try to save their friends and family from a flood of melted ice water.

Emily: So, Ice Age 2: The Meltdown is coming out. Did you see the first one ever?
Kevin: I did see the first one. I thought it was really good. It was a movie, I didn’t know what to expect, and it was quite entertaining. I took my nephew and he really liked it, so.
Emily: Sure you did!
Kevin: It was cool.
Emily: I know you went by yourself to go see it.
Kevin: [laughs]. Quiet, quiet.
Emily: Who did the voices in it?
Kevin: Um, I think it is, ah, Ray, ah, Ray Mora-, Ray Romano. Isn’t that him?
Emily: Yeah.
Kevin: And, um. Gosh, who else are the voices? I can’t remember off the top of my head. But it’s a slew of famous people. Like, it’s a ton of famous people.
Emily: Pretty funny.
Kevin: Yeah, it’s good. Yeah. And I know the second one has done really well. I think it made the most in the opening weekend of any, I believe any animation movie ever.
Emily: Cool.
Kevin: Like, it’s raking in the dough.

Ice Age 2: The Meltdown is set at the end of the last ice age, around 10,000 years ago. Experts say that humans began arriving in the Americas around the same time, and they blame humans – not climate change – for the extinction of many species from that time, including sloths and saber-toothed tigers.
The planet goes through cycles of heating and cooling. Recently, there has been a lot of controversy about global warming and the concern that humans are damaging the planet. Some people say that global warming is the cause of more severe storms and rising ocean levels, and that if the Earth’s temperature continues to rise there will be more infectious and deadly diseases.
What do you think about global warming?
