Dave:  My gal Shakira is on the top of the charts now with Hips Don't Lie.

Taylor:  What are the lyrics about for Hips Don't Lie? Have you been listening to them clearly?

Dave:  Well, I have. Some of it’s in Spanish, so I don’t understand it. It just sounds cool.

Taylor:  Yeah, definitely. Spanish is a beautiful singing language.

Dave:  Yeah, definitely. And Shakira is one of the few people who have topped the U.S. charts with a non-English song.

Taylor:  Mm hmm.

Dave:  And the fact that she’s just hot.

Taylor:  Yeah.

Dave:  What is she, Colombian-Lebanese?

Taylor:  Yeah.

Dave:  Or, her father is American but of Lebanese background.

Taylor:  I saw her perform on American Idol a few weeks or months back, along with, ah, Wyclef Jean from The Fugees.

Dave:  Yeah, well, that’s, they do the Hips Don't Lie song.

Taylor:  Oh, he’s in that, too?

Dave:  Yeah.

Taylor:  On the official release?

Dave:  Yeah.

Taylor:  He’s cool!

Discussion

Shakira’s international popularity is skyrocketing. Her album Fijación Oral Vol. 1 has been a best-seller in the U.S. and Spain. The album won her six Latin Billboard Awards.

In April, she was honored at a ceremony at the United Nations for her charity Pies Descalzos Foundation, an organization that helps protect children from violence in Colombia.

Her hair's kinda outrageous… but it's cute. I like it. She's just not a slave of sleeked hair.

Hmmm, shakira is hot…I got one question about the word SULTRY. Is it kinda derogatory word? is it offensive if I use SULTRY when I am talking about someone? I am asking this is because I found SULTRY also has one meaning of voluptuous, where is seldom used to refer to decent gals. Please correct me if I am wrong, just want to make sure I can use this word in the right place. Thanks alot.

It’s cool! Thanks Taylor and Dave. (However, can I suggest you trying to get a female speaker next time? Sometimes we just need to learn how girls talk.)
