2. Read and Prepare - Read the introduction and prepare to hear the audio.

A lot of movies are based on books. People who loved the book often don’t like the movie as much because it leaves some things out. But sometimes the movie perfectly captures the book.

The Order of the Phoenix is a new Harry Potter movie that’s coming out this summer. Like the other Harry Potter movies, it’s based on a fantasy book by J.K. Rowling. Mason likes the books, but The Order of the Phoenix is not his favorite. Yet, he’s excited about the movie. Listen to him tell Marni why.

Marni:  The new Harry Potter book coming out this summer, but also the new movie. The fifth movie.

Mason:  Which was my least favorite book.

Marni:  Me too…well I don’t know, well…

Mason:  Least favorite. That doesn’t mean it’s a bad book or anything, I’m saying least favorite.

Marni:  Least favorite out of all of them. But it was the longest book…well, you know maybe the next one, and there was a lot going so I feel like sort of need to refresh my memory about all the particular elements of the story.

Mason:  See I feel…my thought is actually completely opposite from that. I remember more of the books and so I’ve disliked the movies a little bit because I remember what they’re leaving out and they have to. But this one, it’s like, since I didn’t like the book all that much, I’m going to be happy that they condense it, only take the best parts and make it look pretty on the movie screen. Have you seen the trailer?

Marni:  I haven’t.

Mason:  Oh my God, go, like, today and watch the trailer. It’s so good!

Marni:  Oh that’s great. I think that’s an interesting point too because they take a lot of artistic license with film but we’ll have to see what they edit out. Can’t wait. July.

Discussion

Marni says that there is a new Harry Potter book and movie coming out this summer. The movie is based on the fifth book. Mason likes each of the other books better. He doesn’t dislike The Order of the Phoenix, but he doesn’t love it either.

Since The Order of the Phoenix is the longest Harry Potter book so far, Marni is glad they are making a movie out of it so she can better recall the plot. Mason is also glad they are making a movie of The Order of the Phoenix but for a different reason. Since he didn’t like the book all that much, so he hopes that only the good parts will be in the movie and make the story better.

What’s your favorite movie that’s based on a book? How do the two versions of the story compare?

i think reading is better than watching. the movie won't cover all d situations that happen in the book. and your imagination-while you are reading-will make the caracters and events more and more interesting.

I'm really expecting to be released as soon as possible in South korea.

I've actually like to read the book, the origin without translated ,but is it possible that I understand their contents in them with my poor english skills…..suddenly I feel sad~ㅠ.ㅠ
