The film "KNOCKED UP" was released in the U.S. theatres on June 1st. It is a comedy about Alison (an beautiful and ambitious 24 year-old journalist) and Ben (an irresponsible slacker) who have a one night stand that results in Alison getting knocked up.

KNOCKED UP: If you are "knocked up", you are pregnant. However, if you use the term "knocked up", usually you are implying the pregnancy is unexcepted or perhaps unwelcomed. EX: "She got knocked up when she was on holiday" "I don't want to tell my parents I am knocked up".

(another phrase often used to suggest a woman is pregnant is "She has a bun in the oven". EX: "Carmen has a bun in the oven." )

Other Vocabulary:

SLACKER (n.): a person who avoids responsibility and/or work; a person without ambition.
ONE NIGHT STAND (n.): a sexual encounter that is limited to only one night
