Tanis:  There’s a place in Southeast that teaches hot yoga.

Zach:  Oh, where you’re in a sauna?

Tanis:  Yeah, it’s like you sweat and they just crank up the heat. It’s supposed to be the most purifying kind of yoga.

Zach:  Wow.

Migs:  It’s 105 degrees.

Zach:  How do they fit all those people in a sauna?

Tanis:  It’s not a sauna!

John:  That’s a big-ass sauna!

Zach:  I know!

Tanis:  It’s just a heated room. It’s a hot room.

Zach:  That’s just gotta smell so funky.

Tanis:  No, you don’t notice.

Zach:  Really?

Tanis:  Yeah.

John:  ‘Cause you’re in so much pain.

Tanis:  But a couple of my friends do it, like, religiously.

Zach:  I don’t know if I could… if I’m that flexible. But on the other hand, like everyone who’s done it says that it’s really fun.

Tanis:  Yoga increases your flexibility as you go, and it actually, like, elongates your muscles if you do it the right way. Like if you practice the breathing stuff, it actually, like, becomes habit for you to, like, learn to relax your body and, like, totally decreases your levels of stress and everything, and it’s good for your body. It’s, like, a different kind of working out.

Discussion

It looks like Tanis is a big fan of Yoga. Maybe we’re going to have to sign up for lessons after all. I hope you can get the feeling of us teasing Tanis a little bit. She is trying to explain this way of exercise, and we think it’s funny to joke about the size of the room and the smell. As friends we tend to do this to each other. And believe me, Tanis is good at doing it back! What’s your favorite kind of exercise? Tell us about it at the Life Goes On message board! Later!—John
