Lesson
You can write love poems in time for Valentine's Day!
First read one I wrote:
When I met you, I was sad.
But now I am totally glad!
I love you, bunny,
Like I love tea and honey.
My student wrote this one:
When you met me,
you said, "That's mine!"
And you did a crime,
Cause you stole my heart.
So here are the directions:
Begin with a time clause.
Time clauses are parts of a sentence that begin with Before, After or When.
Before=what was first
After= what was second
When= at the time
Example:
"Before I met you, I cried."
**this is the same as "I cried before I met you. "
(first, I was sad, then secondly I met you)
"When I saw you, I knew I was in love."
** this is the same as "I knew I was in love when I saw you."
(The first moment I saw you, I knew I was in love.)
"After I left your house, I went home lonely."
** this is the same as "I went home lonely after I left your house."
(First I left your house, then secondly I went home lonely)
THEN:
Try to have some rhyming. Rhyming words sound the same like sad and glad.
I would love it, if you could leave some poems in the comments. That would be really cool. Or if you have any questions about time clauses ask me!
