Definition

1. Definition - Study the definition.

be realistic; think about reality; be aware of problems

2. Use - Learn how the slang is used.

Are you making a big decision? Well, before you decide, you should get your feet on the ground. It’s hard to figure something out if don’t know which way is up, and the only way to know that is to get your feet on the ground so you know which way is down. It keeps you in touch with reality and helps you figure out what is and is not possible. So it’s a compliment, when someone says your feet are on the ground.

But at the same time, it isn’t always fun to be stuck in reality. Every one has to dream from time to time. If your feet aren’t on the ground, there’s a good chance that your head is in the clouds. If your head is in the clouds it means you’re being unrealistic, illogical, and imaginative.

So you can pick. sometimes it is nice to not think about the real world and have your head in the cloud, but other times you need to have your feet on the ground.

One of those times would be when you’re raising your kids. Children are naturally imaginative, so they need someone to their parents to teach them about the world, parents with their feet on the ground. Reese Witherspoon wants to be a good parent, so she’s going to keep her feet on the ground.

Examples

1. Examples - Hear some example sentences.

I think a person may need both!while kepping your head in the cloud, you may get the motivation to persue your dream.Of course, meanwhile, you should get your feet on the ground, which is more important.Because if not,you cannot even stand on your feet, let alone the achivements!
