People on drugs are always hard up for cash. Jason already caught Devan selling her CDs for pot, but she said she wouldn’t do it anymore. She and Mason even talked about how she was heartbroken over him. So hopefully she’s not using anymore.

But if she’s not, why is she digging around the trash for cans to recycle?

Beren

Devan

Beren: Whoa, whoa, whoa. Devo, what are you doing?

Devan: I’m getting the cans out of the trash.

Beren: What are you doing that for?

Devan: Because somebody threw them away!

Beren: No, I mean, why…What are going to do with them?

Devan: I’m going to recycle them.

Beren: They’re in the recycling.

Devan: I’m not on drugs! OK?

Beren: I didn’t say anything about drugs…

Devan: I already told Jason I’m not doing drugs anymore. I’m just trying to recycle cans because somebody threw them in the wrong bin.

Beren: OK…

Devan: It’s not like I’m cashing them in for money.

Beren: I didn’t say anything about money and cashing them in. But they’re already…You just wanna…They’re in the paper bin and you want to put them in the aluminum?

Devan: They’re in the wrong bin. I’m just trying to help the environment, Beren. You’re always accusing people of things. You don’t even know what you’re talking about.

Beren: OK. Sorry. Do you want some help?

Devan: Yes. Could you please? Here take some cans. We’re helping the environment. This has nothing to do with anything else. I don’t know what Jason told you.

Beren: He didn’t tell me anything!

Devan: Saving the environment, OK? Look at, somebody drinks kombucha and they don’t even recycle it. Saving the environment.

Beren: No need to get stressed out.

Devan: I’m just saving the environment, Beren.

Beren finds Devan fishing cans out of the trash. People who are desperate for money often collect cans and recycle them for the deposit. But Devan swears she’s just trying to be environmentally conscious.

And there are a surprising number of cans in that trash can.

It was obvious that Devan didn’t tell the truth.She was collecting cans and going to cash them in for money,but maybe she’s really not on drugs this time .
