Daniel Craig recently made his second appearance as James Bond in the film Quantum of Solace. The movie was really successful, but got mixed reviews in part because it’s very different from past Bond films.

First of all, it looks different. It’s not as sleek. Second, in Quantum of Solace Bond only has one girl and then seeks revenge when she’s killed. And third, this Bond thinks too much—older Bonds would quip and move on.

Speaking of older Bonds, what would Bonds from the past think of Quantum? Jason and Mason decided to try impersonating former Bonds Sean Connery and Pierce Brosnan and talking about the new film.

Mason

Jason:  Piercy, have you seen the new Bond film?

Mason:  Well, I say Sean, I caught a sneak preview and it’s very unrefined.

Jason:  It’s a bit of a departure, I might say.

Mason:  Really? I feel that our films were much more sophisticated.

Jason:  Well, the new Bond is for a new era. He’s a bit more gruff, less sleek.

Mason:  These children these days, they have no taste for intellectual adventure. It’s all, “Oh, assassins and revenge.” It’s quite, quite distasteful.

Jason:  But the villains are corporate thieves. Very timely, don’t you think?

Mason:  Well, I believe there have been corporate thieves through the…what about Zorin? Christopher Walken was a corporate thief in whatever that movie was…Tomorrow Is Not Enough, maybe. I wasn’t in it. I don’t really follow the franchise.

Jason:  There’s 22 of them. It’s difficult to keep track. But, man, the gadgets! They’re designed by Apple. It’s crazy!

Mason:  I dare say, BMW has entry in this one. Damn well supporting the entire franchise. Capital!

Jason:  Is that capital?

Discussion

Jason impersonates Sean Connery and talks about Quantum of Solace with Mason, who impersonates Pierce Brosnan. Mason imagines that Pierce wouldn’t like the style of the new film. But Jason suggests that the villain is a good comment on corporate greed. Mason reminds Jason that there was a corporate villain in another Bond movie, although it was A View to Kill, not Tomorrow Is Not Enough. In fact, that movie doesn’t even exist.

Then Jason says that the gadgets for the new movie are made by Apple, so they’re probably pretty cool. Mason says that there’s a BMW in this movie too, which is a Bond tradition.

What’s your favorite Bond movie? Do you like to impersonate famous people with your friends?
