1986 wasn’t all that long ago. But so much was different. We didn’t have cell phones, iPhones, email or Twitter. We didn’t even have English, baby! It’s hard to imagine how people ever communicated with one another back then, or why anyone would want to return to that era.

In the new comedy Hot Tub Time Machine, four guys spend one crazy night in a hot tub and wake up in 1986. They get a chance to relive the era of leg warmers and shoulder pads, and to try to fix all the problems in their current lives. Find out if Ella and Devan plan to take a trip down memory lane with Hot Tub Time Machine.

Ella:  Hot Tub Time Machine, sounds like a party.

Devan:  I gotta say, I’m pretty excited. It’s gonna be fun to see John Cusack finally return to comedy as opposed to all these psychological thrillers he’s been doing. And I like that this movie is kind of like a shout out to his 80s flicks, you know?

Ella:  I know, it just seems so familiar. He’s just a little bigger and older, and it’s just like, oh, this seems right.

Devan:  Yeah. I heard that it has a lot of nods to Better Off Dead, his old movie and stuff.

Ella:  I think this is gonna be hilarious. The concept is just so out there that you know the jokes are just gonna be insane.

Devan:  Yeah, so what is the concept exactly? I loosely know, but…

Ella:  There are like four dudes or something hanging out in a hot tub, and all of a sudden they’re in 1986. So…

Devan:  And then they like get the chance to fix their lives, to like do it all over again?

Ella:  Something like that, you know. But I think the whole travel along the way will be the interesting part.

Devan and Ella are both excited to see Hot Tub Time Machine. Devan thinks it looks like a perfect role for John Cusack, who is known for starring in lots of classic 80s comedies. Ella thinks it looks like a hilarious, wild movie similar to The Hangover.

The plot of the movie is pretty simple, and pretty silly. Four guys who are unhappy with their lives in 2010 get drunk in a hot tub and end up in 1986. Then they have a chance to turn their lives around and fix their past mistakes.

What were you doing in 1986? Would you ever want to return to that era?

This movie sounds like a lot of fun to watch. And I would like to see it soon. In 1986 I was 12 years old and it was not good time for Ukraine. That year it was the explosion at Chernobyl Power Station in April, 26. So I would never to return to that era. If only I could fix that problem like in the movie.

In 1986 I just went to school. So I don't really want to relive that era. I would rather visit hippie's time.

In that year my first half was inside my mon and the other, inside my dad. In my country those years were really sad. Lots of people died here because of terrorism… but I still think it would be interesting to go back to that era.

My, my… =) Back in 1986 I was a rather nerdy highschool student

trying hard to fit in… And I wore a ridiculous hairstyle as well as

those equally ridiculous colorful clothes… Nope, I don't really miss

the 80's. =P They now seem fun to me only because they are (thank God)

gone and because they witnessed a lot of funny fads!... But I've become

curious about the movie! I am all but sure that trip down memory lane

is going to make me laugh my ass off!! XD
