Intro

1. Learn Vocabulary - Learn some new vocabulary before you start the lesson.

2. Read and Prepare - Read the introduction and prepare to hear the audio.

When you learn another language, your teacher will tell you how to greet people using that language, which is very important! However, knowing one way to say “Hello” or “Goodbye” doesn’t always help you in Real Life!
Here in the United States, there are many ways to greet people. The words we use depend on who we are talking to.
Listen in to the conversations below to hear some common greetings!

Dialog

Discussion

People speak to their friends differently than they speak to their boss or to their co-workers. This lesson gives you some great examples of how to use English authentically when you are saying hello or goodbye to someone!
I would love to know about any other greetings you commonly use and who you use them with! Come to the Life Goes On Message Board and tell me!
Have a wonderful week friends!
Tanis

that's very helpful. what's up is very common word to greet in states. "I'm done for the day, I'm headed home"->that's very interesting. I wonder why they use " I'm headed home" ?  isn't it " I'm headind home" ?
