Sometimes food just seems to taste better when you don’t have to cook it yourself. Going out to restaurants, where professionals not only make your food for you, but also clean up after you, is a fun treat. But if you do it too much, then like anything else, it might get tiring. Or even if it doesn’t get tiring, it will definitely get expensive!

Mason recently went on a trip to one of the culinary capitals of the US, New Orleans. Hear him tell Jason about all the delicious meals he had while he was there, as they talk about going out to eat.

Mason:  I just got back from New Orleans, and I ate so much good food there, I think I gained like 10 pounds.

Jason:  Wow, yeah, I believe it. I mean, that’s a place with a really great culinary culture.

Mason:  For real. I usually don’t eat out that often, but on vacations I totally need to splurge and just go top notch.

Jason:  So was the best part about eating in New Orleans the food, or was the ambiance even better?

Mason:  You know, it was interesting. We ate at so many different restaurants that it’s like the place where I got an $8 sandwich was just as good as the $30 entree I got at the really fancy place.

Jason:  Did it start to wear you out after a while, though? Sometimes when I’m traveling, the whole ritual of having a waiter and having to sit down, it’s fun, but if you do it over and over, like every day, it starts to get exhausting, you know?

Mason:  I don’t think I was out long enough. I’ve hit that place before where you’re like, “I just wanna do something really simple.” Mostly it’s about not having to pay for food like that, though.

Jason:  That’s true. And to me, it has to be special. Going out to eat is for special occasions. So sometimes if you do it too much, it starts to feel not that special. But you have to take advantage while you’re in New Orleans, right? Eat as much as you can.

Mason recently returned from a trip to New Orleans, where he ate a lot of great food. He went to many different restaurants, including cheap places and expensive places. He says they were all delicious, no matter how fancy they were.

Jason says that he sometimes gets tired of going out to eat if he does it too much, especially when he’s traveling. After a while, he just wants to eat something simple in his own home. Mason doesn’t usually get tired of going out to eat, but he does get tired of spending lots of money at restaurants. But in New Orleans, he never got tired of it!

Do you like going out to eat? What is your favorite and least favorite part about eating in restaurants?

Do you have a butler? : )

SantD, your uncle took over my account and takes pleasure at altering my page and post comments without my consent , remember? ha : ) Thanks

Julito, seriously? 15%? Wow! Guess I’ll prefer to stay home instead of going out to eat when I’ll go to America, haha. But I didn’t know about the taxi tip. Thanks for the heads up, I’ll keep that in mind.

Snoopy, I didn’t recognized you… I was so used to your avatar. But this one is as good as the other, very nice indeed :)

Eating foods everyday in the hotel is sort of gifted. In my living place, only very few people are gifted as they can eat food in hotel everyday. They are the waiters… they are all given food for freee.

I like going out to eat, but not frequently as it requires a lot of money. My favourite part about eating in restaurants is that I can talk with others without getting the headache of preparing food, if I throw party at home, I’ll have to spend time in the kitchen more than to the guests. The least favourite part is if I have to wait for too long for my food.

Although I don’t eat out very often, I’m a big fan of Carry-outs, especially the hole in the wall places. I believe their food taste better than most of the high-ends restaurants I’ve been. I find the food at those chichi places to be over the top expensive, usually undercooked hairy meats and the portions they give you aren’t generous at all. So I prefer to go to those substandard spots where good cuisine is the only thing that attracts people there. I was famous among my friends for having a nose for the best low-key carry-outs in town, because I was always eager to try out exotic dishes for cheap. I don’t care if they serve me food in a strainer as long as it tastes good, I’ll come back and bring my gang with me  : )

From the very few times I’ve actually sat in a restaurant to eat, I can tell that it’s quite a very enjoyable thing to do. First it’s so frigging convenient! Cooking as we all know is very time-consuming and when you’re always on the go, there’s no better alternative to a good grand ma cooking than eating out. Also, if you have no expertise in cooking and you find yourself living alone and tired of consuming can food and grits, you can always swing by a nearby restaurant and embark in an edible journey from time to time. And if you’re lucky enough to live in a town where there exist restaurants from different cultural background and countries, why not allowing your taste buds to travel the world by sampling on those foreign dishes? Last but not least, restaurant is the place of choice for first-time daters, you take a woman to dinner to a nice place, not necessarily fancy-looking spot, just a place they serve nice food, it’s enough to set her mood for a nice and sparkling conversation ; and it’s almost a given that you’ll score another date with her. The best way to win a woman’s heart over is through her stomach, this saying works both ways,

But no matter how cheap you think a plate might cost, cooking at home for a whole week is more economical. Those food orders add up very quickly. Also, eating out is not always a good option for someone who is allergic to certain condiments, like peppers and peanuts, lot of cooks use those ingredients, so it’s best for you to inquire about food content before you dig in. Another disadvantage eating out has, is it could render someone lazy about trying to cook for himself. I think one should keep track of the number of time he eats out every week, because eating out too often is a habit you don’t want to pick up, it might cost you both  your money and health. Speaking of which, many people tend to overeat when they’re at restaurants, they feel obligated to empty their plate of the very last crumb “Well, I paid x amount for this, I’m not leaving jack on this plate” “and I can have as much coca-cola as I want, which reminds me… Hey waitress! Fill me up again please”. Eating out can also be a relationship-killer, because some husbands are forced to eat out because their narcissist wives don’t want to chip another nail while cooking. So very often some guys end up having affairs with the waitresses, or that lady in the cafeteria at work, because the best way to get a man is through his stomach, see I told you it worked both ways.
“Hello, honey I’m going to be  home late tonight again, I’m over at Snoopy’s Resto having dinner with the guys at work. I’m doing a dogg…errr I’ll bring you back a doggy bag, see you”
- “but wait!... why are you hyperventilating, are you okay?”
-“the spices honey, too spicy…whooo that’s hot!, water quick Jimmy hand me your glass”
It always  turns out there isn’t a Snoopy’s Resto in town. go figure.

But to sum up I’d say that eating out is a leisure most of us can afford. It’s fun. I’ve had friends that told me that the only time he can gather and enjoy quality times  with his family is when they eat out, which is sort of tinged with a little bit of sadness I think, because  whatever happens to the family table moments?   Slyly feeding the dog some unwanted vegetables? Doing dishes with grandma at the sink and blowing out soap bubbles? Alas! Like they say a family or friends that eat together, stay together, either at home or at restaurant.Bon appetit!  : )

I love eating in the restaurants. I have some favourite restaurants, but I agree that if you eat here too often it is getting tiring.

And I also love the meal my hubby make on his own :))))

Well, when I go out to eat I prefer only having healthy food, such as cheeseburgers, French fries, pizza :P

Really, I don’t like eating at fancy restaurants where they have all those expensive dishes that aren’t even as taste as they should considering the amount of money you’re paying for them. And I don’t know how restaurant policy works in USA, but in Brazil some restaurants “states” a 10% fee for the service (the money goes to the waiter). You don’t have to pay it if you don’t want it, but if you don’t it can cause some discomfort, especially if the waiter asks you if you weren’t well served =/

Yeah I like going out to eat… specially while travelling.. I don’t usually splurge so whenever I travel or specially in occasion I go out to eat..

There is nothing my favorite and least favorite part about eating in restaurants… because I eat to live, not live to eat… I like to eat what my tongue likes…. it depends on hunger…

Hunger knows no foods.. if hunger is there, I don’t care of food… I eat what I get keeping in mind that doesn’t spoil my health…. I mean to kill my hunger and nothing else….

regardless of eating at home or going out for eat, I think we should feel and enjoy the food. I never think about the brands or eating where the celeberities eat!, and prefer to be at the place that most of the people are like me (Economically & ....).I think we should know ourselves and avoid of pretending to be someone else. so be yourself and eat where you are comfortable, and eat how you like and finally enjoy your meal.Smile

Going out for eat could be for an special occasion, or could be for business too.

One of the most important things of a good restaurant are the service, the time they take for preparing food and the food taste.

We should go out for eating once a week…
